Will Premam be able to break Drishyam record ?

As Premam becomes the fastest 25 Cr grosser in Mollywood , the hot topic in M-town is ' Will it be able to break the all time blockbuster / Record breaker Drishyam. Before analyzing deeply some factors are to be considered.

i. Target Audience

Premam :

As the title suggests, this movie mainly aims the youngsters out there and it has done a splendid performance among the youth. Most of them have watched it twice. Some guys even clocked more than three. This is the main reason behind the fastest 25 Cr grosser in no time. Among the youth the wom is very much positive , but among family audience the movie received mixed wom.

Drishyam :

As everyone knows, Drishyam is the movie which raise the performance level of Mollywood films. After this record breaker more movies got a chance for wide release in ROI and in Overseas too. Bangalore Days and obviously Premam are the recent examples. This movie doesn' t have any targeted audience, it has got unanimous positive wom among the youngsters as well as with the family audience. As the mystery unveils with the  first watch, the movie doesn't have any repeat watch quality as a whole. Die hard fans still made their try.

ii. BO Performance ( Initial )

Premam :

Huge initial. Theatres were charting extra shows to control the overflow. Tickets were sold out even before a day. Mollywood never witnessed such a rush till date. Extra screens , Show increases everywhere. As a result this movie became the Fastest 10 Cr, 20 Cr , 25 Cr and most probably will be the fastest 30 Cr grosser in Mollywood.

Drishyam :

Average initials , but as the wom spread , people were rushing to the theatres. All we can tell about the initial of Drishyam was the Calm before the Storm.

iii. BO Performance ( 3 Weeks )

Premam :

Grossed around 27.50+ Cr in 21 days ( 3 weeks ). Collection slows down due to Ramadan. Malabar area contributes one third of the total Kerala collection, due to Ramadan there will be a huge dip in collection in the Malabar area.

Drishyam :

Grossed around 16.50+ Cr in 21 days ( 3 weeks ). Considering the slow start this gross was good. At this time the gross is about 10 Cr less than what Premam grossed, it doesn't matter as the collection of Premam is slowing down due to Ramadan but in case of Drishyam it was picking up

One thing is damn sure that if Premam beats Drishyam then it will happen in less number of days. If Premam has a chance to beat Drishyam then it will be according to the following assumptions.

Following are only assumptions.

Expecting 60 Lakhs from Friday that is the 22nd day and 1.2 Cr per day each from Saturday and Sunday ( 4th Weekend ) , which will make the overall gross close to 31 Cr in 24 days.

Need to gross 40 Lakhs per day in the next week days which will add a 2Cr to the gross till Friday , that is the 29th day. Expecting 1Cr per day in the 5th weekend which will make the total gross close to 35 Cr in 31 days.

Expecting 25 Lakhs per day gross in the next weekdays which will inturn add a 1.25 Cr to the gross till Friday, that is the 36th day. Expecting another 1.25Cr gross in the 6 th weekend, then the gross will be somewhere around 37.5 Cr in 38 days.

After that expecting 20 Lakhs per day in weekdays which will make the total gross close to 38.5 Cr in 43 days. Another 75 Lakhs is expecting from that weekend that will make the total gross to cross 39 Cr in 45 days.

After that minimum 10 Lakhs per day in the week days will make the gross to touch 39.5 Cr in 50 days. Expecting a good weekend collection that will help the total gross to touch 40 Cr in 52 days. If things workout as what we assume then there will be a chance to break Drishyam record. Let's wait and watch.

Samrajyam - II : Son of Alexander Review

Samrajyam - 2 : Son of Alexander is the sequel of the Movie Samrajyam which was released in 1990. As the title suggests, Samrajyam - 2 revolves around the Son of Alexander. Alexander character was a memorable one which was done by Megastar Mammootty in the original film. The sequel has Unni Mukundan in the title role. The Director of Samrajyam - 2 is Perarasu, who is best known for his Mass treatment. If we go with the words of the Producer Samrajyam - 2 tops the list of big budget movies made in Malayalam. The release of the movie was postponed several times due to various issues.

The trailer, stills and song of the movie which was released way back before the movie release was unable to create any hype. Also it creates a feeling that the movie will be an average one. If the Script and Direction has nothing new to offer the movie is on the way to another disaster in Unni Mukundan' s career. If the director fails to meet the expectation , then the movie will be nothing short of a disaster. These are the only feeling that we got from the trailer , Songs and the promotional stills. Audience don' t want mass scenes unless the scene demands it and slow motion and ultramotion sequences of Hero walking here and there. These are not at all a new experience for the user, they are witnessing this for the past several years and have already done with it. They want toexperience something new and want to watch something really fresh.

We cannot say that this movie failed to meet the expectation since nobody expects anything. The director has landed below the least expectation level. Such a waste sequel to defame the original character Alexander. The movie has nothing otherthan the Hero and the gang walking here and there , the villain and his gang walking there and here , some gun shots , Hero - Heroine duet , item songs etc. Watching this movie in theatre is a real torture.

Movie starts from where the original one ends. After so many years Son of Alexander has grown and is the new hero. After some flashback scenes the movie switches gears to the present scenario. Some issue happened in Kerala and Son of Alexander , Jordan is in action for the rescue. Ohh .... Wait, this is not the Jordan we are expecting. Anyways let' s get into the movie again. Next is some breath-taking action moments with Jordan on one side and Kerala Police on the other side. Chase , Gunshots and BGM makes this scene more than worse. After a series of gun shots Jordan throws ' Squash ' against the Police and the driver losts his vision in turn. Simultaneously Jordan get rid of the Police force. 

Villain' s heard that Jordan has arrived and they loose their control and kills their own man. Psychological move from the director to show how cruel the villains are. Jordan then taking revenge by breaking several business deals of the Villain. Villain cannot afford this as it will ruin their reputation. So their next target is at any cost finish Jordan.

As the interval block is about to come , Unni Mukundan the original hallmarked Jordan made his intro. Who is the Jordan that we saw till now astonishes the audience that is another breath taking suspense and I dont want to spoil that. New Jordan is in place. He walks here and there , his gang accompany him there and here , worst bgm was also accompanying. And there comes the interval block. Wonderful is the only word that will correctly describe the interval block.

Second half is about revenge between Hero and the Villain. Villain kills a member from the Hero's gang , Hero kills one from the Villain' s gang. Again Villain kills another member from Hero' s gang , seeing this Hero kills another one from Villain' s gang and this cycle repeats for some time.

Will the hero be able to take the revenge , will he be able to win over the Villain , what will happen to him etc things forms the Climax. Second half comprises of gun shots , walking here and there, protecting the heroine , unwanted chase , a duet and two item songs. As the movie goes on the director thinks that there is some deficiency in ' Mass ' , so he himself came infront of the camera and provides some adequate amount of mass. Such a treat for the eyes. Commendable performance from the director. He can undoubtedly act as Jordan's Son in the sequel of Samrajyam - 2.
